The E8 Network of Expertise for the Global Environment

1992 James Bay Inaugural Summit

The e7 Chairs first met in April, 1992, in Hydro-Québec’s facilities in James Bay, Québec, Canada. The purpose of this meeting was very broad, to discuss the environment, global warming and the development of the electricity industry. The James Bay Joint Statement was signed on April 9, 1992 and was the basis for the creation of the e7 Network of Expertise for the Global Environment.

e8 Priorities

Major global environmental and social issues that affect the electric utility industry are considered to be the top priorities of the e8.

The issues of sustainable development, climate change, social trust, and internationalisation are the focus of the e8's actions.
