1998 Versailles Summit
The 1998 Summit focused on how e7 companies should approach the internationalisation of the electric industry, and resulted in the proposal of the
e7 Proposal for International Guidelines. A Joint Statement was issued urging other companies to voluntarily adopt the e7 International Guidelines as a set of governing principles for international activities and the promotion of Sustainable Energy Development. Another important event at the Versailles Summit was the official announcement of the establishment of the
e7 Fund for Sustainable Energy Development which will be a financing instrument to complement the e7 Network of Expertise for the Global Environment in implementing projects and activities.
e8 Priorities
Major global environmental and social issues that affect the electric utility industry are considered to be the top priorities of the e8.
The issues of sustainable development, climate change, social trust, and internationalisation are the focus of the e8's actions.
