The E8 Network of Expertise for the Global Environment

Capital projects

The e8 has undertaken a number of innovative, not-for-profit capital projects to promote sustainable energy development and/or reduce greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. These demonstration projects assist developing countries by paving the way for further investment in the electricity sector.

Implementing sustainable energy development within the international framework on climate change, the e8, since 1992 and in partnership with UN experts and local partners, has completed five projects and is developing several other renewable energy demonstration projects across regions, contributing to increasing energy access in some of the poorest regions of the world while mitigating the effects of green house gas emissions on climate.

e8 Priorities

Major global environmental and social issues that affect the electric utility industry are considered to be the top priorities of the e8.

The issues of sustainable development, climate change, social trust, and internationalisation are the focus of the e8's actions.
